It's more complicated than that. Depending on what it came out of, the pinion offset may be wrong, the spring mounts may be wrong or not there at all, the yoke may be wrong, and the overall width may be wrong. The bolt patern is different on the Ford cars. They have a 5 on 4 1/2 bolt patern and the Chevys have a 5 on 4 3/4 patern. There are MANY different yokes for the 9 inch Ford and if you get the right one your drive shavt will work without even having to change the u-joint. So you see, it can get complicated.

Hi, thanks for the reply, yes my dad bought the 9 inch ( from a aussi FORD ), bolts straight in, ie spring perchers in the right place and correct with, he was not sure about tailshaft, looks like he has to measure and compare, but thanks again for the reply... DAISY
