Sorry about this VERY basic question but... I bought a set of OEM style trans cooler lines to replace the braided hoses the previous owner cobbled in place. The only place these prebent lines seem to be able to route through, is between the crossmember and engine, more or less under the fuel pump. Is this the correct placement? There are no clips or other retainers that I can see along the route I described to give me any better clue. Help!?

No reason to be sorry!

The lines do run on top of the x-member and start toward the back somewhere around the fuel pump..

The lines will run along the RH side of the engine next to the top of the oil pan. They also route around the starter which usually means having to do a bit of starter gymnastics for R&R.

Once you get them laid in there close they should fall into place

Don't worry if you have to bend the lines a bit for clearance. Just be carefull not to kink the tubing.

Good luck.

Visit yourlocal junk yard and find a small block engine, on the oil pan is a clip, held in place by one of the oil pan bolts, this will help you with location and keeping the lines in place. It will be a strugle to get the lines under the motor mount, you may want to lift the right side of the motor to help you out.
