My vin is 12497NOR161208 TR 729 11A X44:

Actually this is all the data off your trim tag...it breaks down as....
12497 - 97? Are you sure this is correct?
NOR - Norwood assembly plant
161208 - Seqential body number
729 - Ivory / Houndstooth deluxe interior
11A - built the 1st week of November, 1968
X44 - Base car - Not and SS, RS, or Z/28.

The VIN should be on the dash (look through the windshield).

here's a few sites i have used to decode a few trim tags, if anyone's interested in decodeing one: http://holisticpage.com/camaro/parts_fs.htm
pick year, vin, trim tag. this site has a lot more info too. http://www.wsouth.com/camaro/trimtags.shtml
think it's a copy of the above site. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/3652/camaro.html
pick year, go to cowl tag. also features many pics and ads. http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml
a lot of info on everything.

Thumbs up

As I stated before....

NOR - Norwood assembly plant
161208 - Seqential body number
729 - Ivory / Houndstooth deluxe interior
11A - built the 1st week of November, 1969 (I messed up before and said '68)
X44 - Base car - Not and SS, RS, or Z/28.

Your VIN (124379n709750)breaks down as :
1 - Chevrolet
2 - Camaro
4 - V-8
37 - Coupe
9 - 1969 Model
n - Norwood Assembley plant
709750 - 209,750th car build during the 1969 model run (this is a very late car).

Hope this helps......
