Question

I was thinking about putting in a 5-speed from a mustang in my Camaro (don't give me a hard time guys about mustangs). The 5-speed in Camaros can't handle the HP and the Mustangs is supposed to be tougher.

My question is, is there a universal bell housing that will allow you to mate a ford trans to a chevy engine? Also is there anything else I would have to change besides mating U-jouints? (Can't afford a 6-speed!!!)

Thanks, Tony

Those tremec transmissions from Fortes Parts connection (waltham mass) are 5 speed ford type units, that have been modified to accomodate a GM bellhousing perhaps you can do the same??
do a search here for some more info on the tremecs

The Mustang T-5 has a different input shaft and will not fit in a Chevy. Forte's had a custom input shaft designed and manufactured specifically for their Chevy applications.

The T-5 isn't very stout - what are you bolting it up to?

The transmission is for my 67,383 stroker, about 425-450 HP.
GHEATLEY- couldn't you put a ford clutch on it to take care of the diff in input shafts?

Unless someone wants to buy a T-10 4-speed AND a TH350 so I can buy Forte's Tremec?
