I had a vibration such as that it was so bad it would knock the car out of fourth gear. Turned out to be a worn out pilot bushing.

I have the very same problem. Won't be able to work on my car for another 30-40 days. Did the wheel bearings and u-joints, no help.

Tossing the 10 bolt for a reworked 12 bolt posi this spring and putting on 84 aluminum drums. (Lighter, dissipates heat faster.) I pray that fixes the problem. It's the only thing left. I'll write back when I figure it out or when I've spent too much money.

With all the thinking that has gone into this, I think one of the drums has lost a weight.

Double check that driveshaft despite having new ujoints and balance. Put the backend in the air, good jackstands under the axle tubes and start the car, put it in first gear. Take a good look at the driveshaft fom the side of the car. For safety sake don't get under the car. Anyway, if you see any "bouncing" of the driveshaft pull it back out and bring it back to the guy that did the work for you and ask him whats going on.

I had vibration coming from my rear end when a couple tire balancing weights fell off and produced speed specific vibration that would decrease with acceleration. I have Cragar SS mags. Got tire shop to look and they rebalanced--vibration is gone.
