Question

I've thought about putting a Corvette tripower setup on my Camaro to have something a little different. I figure I could find an intake and get the rest piece by piece as I can afford it. What are the differences between the different intakes? Will it all fit under an SS hood without any problems? How much should I expect to pay for everything piece by piece?

I believe Edelbrock sells a tripower setup. Probably would be cheaper since they aren't collecter pieces.

That is gonna look really nice, specially with the appropriate chrome air filters. Photos when finished, please.

I had one a long time ago. The best is the 67 which is also the most valuable it is taller like the stock manifold on your 375HP. In 68 they lowered the hood line and went to sunken intakes they are terrible the flow must go down then up to the intake port. After all that info before the resto craz got to those Vettes everyone took off the tri powers and used a single 4bbl. The tri powers cause much grief the manifolds are always warped the carbs leak if the get much use. Duntov said that the set up was better for HP on a BB which the 67 seems to be is it worth the trouble or expense I don't know what they are going for now but I am sure it hasn't gone down any.

Dennis I read the website on the tri power looks like he got it going ok. He is right about the accelerator pump on the pri. carb you don't need to change it. I think he might have been trying to cover up the mech. linkage to the end carbs. That is not a good idea. It's like putting a screw in a vacuum sec Holley to make it open. The one thing he didn't say was that the bottom end torque is much better with that small center carb than a big holley. I see from his price list that they haven't gotten any cheaper.

Although this isn't an apples-to-apples comparison, I had 3-2's on a 348 in a 58 Impala. What with the low tech heads, etc., it carb'd fine. My vote is tri-power!

Chris,
My neighbor has a factory tripower for a big block for sale, he spent about $1200.00 trying to get it set up right all rebuilt only to discover it was for squareport heads I beleave and his were oval or vice versa, anyway its for sale it was funny cause he bought this vette only to discover the hipo heads were gone and someone stuck 454 smoggers on it.

GM was originally going to set up a tri-power on the Camaro, I forget what the RPO was but I seen a schematic in my '67 Camaro assembly manual from GM. It was cancelled before one was ever built for sale. Also seen a trunk release for the glovebox, again cancelled before production.
