Cool

I bought the first 1967 Camero in my hometown after I returned from Vietnam. At the time the salsesman told me they came with three different 350 engines. A 350/295, 350/350/ and a 350/375 HP. I bought the 350/375. I noticed that in the engine section the only 350 mentioned was the 350/295. Why is this? Did I get some kind of experimental model? It was a 350/375,fuel injected heads,Muncie four speed with a Hurst power shifter. Just wondering. Hacksaw

In 67-69 only 1 350 was available in the SS models and that was a 295hp version. If you have a 350/375hp it would have had to have dealer installed high perf.parts .The only 375hp motor offered in 67 was the L-78 396 and you would definitly know if you had one of those in your car! Check your original paperwork for dealer add-ons. I hope this helps. Cary

hacksaw_1966,

Sounds like you are confusing the 327 with the 350. In 1967, the Camaro was the only Chevy to offer the 350 and it only was available as part of the SS package and it only came in one flavor...295 HP. You could order an SS with two flavors of 396 big blocks which I believe were 325 HP and 375 HP.

If you bought a non-SS 1967 Camaro the biggest engine was the 327 and it did come in three flavors, the strongest being a 275 HP version. I'll have to look up the actual HP ratings on the 327s tonight.

there was only one 350 in 67 (the first year they were produced) and that was the 295HP version in SS camaros as stated above. are you sure you are not talking about the 327's in Corvettes. They did have different versions that came in 295HP, 350HP and a 375HP fuel injected version. Maybe they dropped a fuel injected 327 out of vette into your camaro.

hacksaw,

I was wrong on the 327s in 67. There was only one at 275 HP. According to the "White Book" there were a total of 6 engine options for 1967 which were:

L22 250 155 HP (6 banger)
L30 327 275 HP
L35 396 325 HP (SS)
L48 350 295 HP (SS)
L78 396 375 HP (SS)
Z28 302 290 HP

What is interesting is that it says that in September 1966, when the SS option was initially offered, only the L48 350 was available. The 396 engines were not offered until November of 1966.

As you said you bought yours very early, possibly the salesperson was alluding to the upcoming 325 and 375 HP engines but incorrectly thought they were going to be 350s instead of 396s.
