I have a repo battery. I had a problem with it leaking because it was overfilled. What a mess! I took some of the acid out but I lost the paper saying where the acid level should be and I don't want to take out too much. Anyone know what the correct acid level is?

There should be a lip down inside the battery fill holes that the acid should touch. Usually this will make a cats eye shape out of the acid when you look in there.

You want the acid covering the plates by about an inch.

Overcharging the battery will create bubbles in the acid and cause an overflow. Make shure your system is not overcharging it.

Chris,I found my paperwork on my battery. In a nutshell it says "distribute the acid so that the final acid level is 1/8" to 1/4" above the separators." Later it says"If battery acid level is low, fill with drinkable water to 1/8 inch above plates before charging." If you want give me a call you can look at the paperwork, and use my hydrometer.I could help you if you want.Boomhauer
