Any thoughts on lowering Camaros?

I have a 69 Convertible that sits a bit low in the rear (mono leaf). I like the stance of a 2" drop but will I sacrifice anything?

Thanks

Bob

in my mind the only thing you'll sacrifice would be the factory look and ride height, but you'll gain every thing: look, awesome stance, with big wheels it would look mean, and it'd be an even bigger chick magnet. go for it man!

you might sacrifice a little tire clearance... and if you go too wild with dropped coils up front you might find some bottoming out problems. Also, if you go too low you might find yourself scraping up your headers or any other low haning pieces. Just don't go crazy and you should be fine. I haven't heard of any problems with a 2'' drop as long as you have a good spring rate so that they won't compress too much.

What is the best way to go about the drop?

Spindles or Hotchkis springs?

My concern is mainly with tire problems. I plan to run 15 inch Rally wheels.

Thanks for the thoughts.

I always have thought that dropped spindles were better. But in reading thru the suspension forum, I've found that Dave Pozzi recommends lowering springs over the dropped spindles for a first generation camaro. So thats what I'm going with. He is the guru of suspension.

I don't think you can run 15" wheels with dropped spindles due to interference with the outer tie rods.

Lowering springs are the better way to go.
