I'm looking at getting the Ramjet 502 as soon as it's available. What would be a good standard transmission fot this motor? It puts out 510hp and 550ft/lb. The car won't see the track. It will see less than 3000 miles a year. I would like a 5 or a 6 speed. Anyone here anything definite on when the motor will be available? I've been told January or March. Thanks.

I looked at the info for the Ram Jet 502 Dec. '99 on my way back from Ohio at Jim Pace Gm Center. I was told Feb '00 they would be available. Well, when Feb. came and went I buoght the ZZ-502/502 with the 850 Holley. It has the 502hp with 567lbs of torque. I had the car on the road for 3 1/2 months this year and what a blast. I just didn't feel like sitting around waiting for a couple more hp's.
Sorry I can't help with the shifter, I have the T-400 from Hughes in Arizona.
Make shure you have a good radiator, I went with the 2 core Griffin. 1 1/4" each.

Maybe a Richmond 5 speed or a Tremec TKO (5-speed with OD). Both of these trannys have been installed by members on this site and should handle the power level you want.

The tremec TKO should hold up to that kind of power and is supposed to be direct bolt in, even with a factory console. Check out http://www.fortesparts.com/tremec/tr3550.html for more info and also do a search here. Good luck.

I emailed Jim Pace. I was told that the rumor is that the Ramjet 502 might be available in Jan 2001. The guy recommended a Richmond gear transmission.

Thanks for the feedback.
