I just joined this sight so I'm gettin' kind of e-mail happy but as I've said I'm on my way to gettin a 69. What would be the best choice as far as performance parts, engine size ( big block/small block), etc. for an almost every day driving car but also have some balls for occasional street racing.

You're going to get a lot of opinions about this one, so here's mine. For an everyday driver a stroked small block 383 is probably the best value out there. It's got great hp and tq and lots of after market stuff available for the small block. BTW welcome.

I agree with Rick. 383 has tremendous bang for the buck.

Anything you want!!

Low gears and a hot 302, a cheap, very mild 350, poke and stroke sb=383, stock 396bb, a bad to the bone 427,L-88.
Why its just a warmed over truck 454, get with it and poke and stroke a bb=496, or newest of the new 502/502bb, and isn't there a brand-new 494bb or something out now??

And don't even think about forgetting all the other engines out there.

SB 262, (2)265's, 267, 283, 305, 307, 327 and 400.

BB tall deck 366 truck, 402, tall deck 427.

Happy decision making, I love it. Merry X-mas. pdq67
