Question

I asked this question in the Engine and Drivetrain forum and never got an answer...what type of freeze plug was originally used in the 69 Z28 472 intake? It goes where the oil filler spout would be if it had one. Where would I find such a thing? Thanks.

Hey Gambitt...

The freeze plug you're looking for is steel (not brass). At least that's what I've seen on the restored Z's...1.25" in dia I believe.

You don't know where I can find a good "472" intake?

Cool

I've seen several decent ones on Ebay lately, selling in the 200 dollar range...just about anyone you find will have at least 1 or 2 stripped out threads. The one I have was in pretty good condition, but I went ahead and sent it to Jerry MacNeish to have it worked over and reskinned. There's not gonna be anymore of them, so find a decent one and have it restored.

I just got rid of mine on Ebay, real good shape and got $325 for it. I have a friend that has a stock GM high rise but it is not a 472. It has also been welded, if interested email me and I will try and get a photo.

My 472 is original, just got it back from Jerry too - looks fantastic! Takes a 1.25" freeze plug, the one in mine is brass.
