I am looking at the Holley street avenger carb and the Commander 950 Digital Fuel Injection system by Holley. I am putting it on a new GM SB crate motor 430hp. That's the 385 fastburn with the hotcam + the 1.6 rollers. Any personal experience or recommendations out there? Money is an issue but I would rather spend it now than go back in 2 years trying to upgrade it. Should I do the EFI setup? Thanks.

My opinion, and I'm sure many would disagree, is to stick with the carb. The Holley FI system is $2,500 vs $350 for the carb. I understand that overall driveability is enhanced by FI, but FI systems generally do not make significantly more horsepower than carbs.

If you wanted to add a blower or turbocharger down the road, FI would be the best way to go.

I've been debating that very same issue and I've read a lot about it. Here my take on the issue. If you have the money go for the fuel injection if not go for the carb. Simple as that, fuel injection are way better than a carb in every single way. Carbs have a lot of limitation. If this car is going to be a daily driver, you might make it up in all the money you will save from gas since fuel injectors get about 5 percent better gas mileage. Have you looked at Holley lower end fuel injector? You might also look at gm tpi .

Thanks for the replys guys. I was looking at the $1382. throttle body fuel injector system by Holley. It says 900cfm, 350-500hp. So I guess it would be about a $1000. more than the carb setup.
