Question

I read in an engine rebuild book a while back that oil pressure shouldn't go over 65. I just put Mobil1 15W50 syn in my 327 and and my gauge went from the 58-60 at idle to about 70-72 at 65 mph. (friggin' tach is broken so I can't give RPM)

Should I back of the weight and go with a 10W40? I want to stay with a syn oil but Mobil1 does not make a 10W40 syn. :-(

Thanks for any info,
Rob

I thought they do make 10w40 in synthetic. Go with 10w30. As far as oil pressure goes, all you need is 10lbs per 1000rpm. If you run your car to 6000rpm redline you need 60 lbs.
