I HAVE A 91 CAMARO RS. THAT IDLES FAST WHEN I STOP AT A LIGHT, IT EVEN DOES IT WHEN IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. IT GOES PAST 2000 RPMS AND TRIES REALLY HARD TO GO, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ALSO COMES ON WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL PLACES AND NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. SOMEONE SAID IT MIGHT BE THE ECM BUT I CAN'T FIND IT. PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE I GO BROKE.

Have you taken it to a Chevy dealer? They should be able to figure it out for not much cash.

Did it come up with any trouble codes? My first guess would be a sensor or IAC motor problem.

also take a look inside throttle body if you have a lot of carbon it can do funny thigs to idle quality,it sounds like a good cleaning along with iac motor might do the trick

It sounds like it does this intermittently? Doesn't do it when you take it somewhere to get it fixed, right?

That's how it always works, it sems.

Good luck.
