My 1985 Cheverolet Camero will not start all of the time and when it does it cuts in and out. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

This strictly a guess, but it sounds like the timing chain to me.

If you have no fear, you're not going as fast as you could.

Sounds to me like bad alternator wiring, possibly a corroded wire. I had the same problem on a Ford and it was a corroded wire. Put a fully charged battery in and see if it will stay running. If it does, than the car is running off of the batteries voltage and will do so until the battery gets too low to charge the ign coil.
