Question

my hood grilles are in great shape, no pits and the chrome is excellent. The only things that looks like crap is the black paint. I was thinking of repainting it all black, then lightly sanding the top with 500-1000 grit sandpaper to re-expose the chrome. Has anyone done this and share their thoughts, or does anyone have some advice to offer. Thanks in advance for your replies. By the way, the car is finally painted and looks awesome. I hope to post this soon

Don't sand it. Use Lacquer thinner on a rag wrapped around your finger and just wipe off the paint . Don't get it on the car.

Clill has it right. Don't sand it. Do just what Clill said, but try and do it while paint is still wet. I've done it, it works.
