Does anyone know if the new vortec heads will bolt up to my 69 327? They seem like they would be a good choice for the price. I saw an add from Edelbrock advertising a special manafold for the vortec heads but I don't know if they fit the 327. Thanks for your help

They should bolt right up. So should the manifold.

I did the search and found mosst of what I was looking for. My question now is what are steam holes and how and where do you drill them? Is it something that I can do or does it have to be done at a mechine shop? I did a search on them but did not get an answer. Thanks

You do not need steam holes drilled in any head you put on that 327...only the 400 small block requires the steam holes because of the siamesed bores on the 400. The vortecs will work great on your 327...use the matching edelbrock intake of your choice (vortec pattern), and get a set of stock replacement guided rockers from gm (around $50) and even with the stock springs you will be good to about .460 lift. You will also need centerbolt valve covers.
