Question

I have my shifter out of my Z/28 and I want to get it rechromed. Can someone tell me the procedure of removing the shifter handle from the shifter mechanism. I don't want to screw up an original shifter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks....BBS

BBS, take two feeler gauges and slide them down on either side of the shifter handle where it meets the black shifter arm. There are two little clips that hold the chrome shifter on and the feeler gauges will separate them back to the shifter arm, then you pull straight up. If there is any rust inside, you may have to pull really hard. Don't forget some WD-40 too. Kevin

Thanks KevinW, I used the two feeler guages and it came out without any problem.
