I was thinking of putting a MSD box on my 77 Camaro. What benefits would this offer? People say it really helps your timing curve. How difficult are they to install or should I hvae it professionally done?

if it's a manual trns., install the MSD6-al
I had a 79 Z with a 383 stroker (went from the accel super coil to this) the results were awesome(make sure to also get the blaster II coil or equiv.)

it takes around an hour to install,
if you can understand the wire diag, or
have a little wiring experience!!(pretty easy)
you'll love it,
but make sure you also buy a good dist. cap+
rotor. I had a cheap cap and it melted down!

It will make your car much more driveable, especially at low RPMs around town. A little more maintenance is involved though. The spark output of an MSD is huge, so they eat spark plugs for lunch. I stay away from expensive plugs like Split Fires and use AC Delco.

You will also find that the cap/rotor wear faster but the product is a good one. Make sure your plug wires are in top shape, too. I like Magnecor although previous posts have their own picks. WWW.MAGNECOR.COM is interesting reading.
