My oil pressure is wacky. At start up its 50 in park then when I step on the gas in park it shoots to 70-80. Put it in gear after warm up it drops to 20-25 but as soon as I step on the gas and drive it jumps to 40-50. I have had opinions from a clogged oil pump screen to a bad bearing. What do you think. THANKS IN ADVANCE. MARKO

I think it's fine. It sounds like you have a high pressure relief spring in your pump. I installed a Melling high pressure/high volume pump in my 350, and it's oil pressure behavior is identical to yours. As long as your oil pressure doesn't drop below about 10psi, you won't have any problems.

Sounds perfectly normal to me... At startup cold oil is going to creat higher pressure readings than warm oil... It goes down a bit in gear because the idle goes down in gear. 10psi increase for every 1000rpm is what your looking for. 20-25psi warm idling is fine.

I agree. It sounds normal unless this is something that has changed. How long have you had the car?

I would consider 15psi the minimum, one other possible cause is the oil pump pickup tube has come out or if welded to the pump has brokrn the weld from vibration and maybe part way out of it's socket, I had this happen to my 396 ! just a thought ?
