I bought a used MSD 6A at the swap meet today. Unfortunetly I did not get the bag of electrical connection goodies with it. For reference the car is a 68 with a 427 in it and a stock early HEI distributor (4 pin module).

A) My question is on the small red wire connection. According to the internet instructions at the MSD site, the small red wire goes to a white jumper and then into the large red wire going into the coil on my HEI. Do I put a blade type conector on the small red wire since I do not have the jumper and insert it into the connector plug of the large red wire coming from my fuse box? If not where is the connection made?
How?

B) The second question is about the GM HEI module in the distributor. According to the internet diagram, I put a blade connector on the purple and green wire comming from the MSD box and connect them to the wires going in to the ignition module inside the distributor. Would I just take out the module and not use it? If this is the case, I am guessing that the purple wire goes to the larger connection and the green to the smaller one on the wires coming from the base of the distributor.

I bought the box for $40.00. Is that a good deal if it works?
Thanks
Rick

A. According to my MSD instructions for a 6AL, the small red wire hooks into the heavy red wire connector from your harness as you said; they use a short white jumper but it could be plugged directly without it.

B. Their note says the GM ignition module is removed and replaced with their harness to hook up the magnetic pickup connector; purple is + and green is -; the white wire from the MSD isn't used. The black wire from the MSD connects to C-; orange connects to B+; the middle connector(gnd) is the ground.

They unfortunately do not show which wire goes where for the mag pickup as they want you to use their #8861 harness.
