This is not the original motor. The 010 block first came out in mid 69. If you get the numbers off the front pad on the block I can tell you what it is out of.

I am having trouble reading the numbers on the front pad. Can you tell what kind of motor it is from 3970010? Any place else i can look for numbers to identify the engine?

Hotttfish,

Welcome. We have a forum named Tag Team. This is where you can post the VIN, cowl tag, casting numbers, etc. There are very knowledgeable people who look at those posts. Try your luck there.

You can use the "Search" icon too at the top of the page.

The 3970010 is a hard one to identify without front pad #'s. It was used in so many applications. It could be a 68-79 350, or a 68-69 327. www.mortec.com says also a 69 302, but I'm not sure on that. Those blocks were made with both 2 and 4 bolt mains and came is a number of hp ratings.

I am working on the pad numbers, they are VERY hard to read. Any other place to look for them other than in front of the cylinder head?
