I just but a camaro and I don't know that much aabout it. I noticed that there is a button under the cigarette lighter that says 2nd gear shift. Can anyone tell me what that is for. Also my camaro has two drive gear shifts. One has just a D and the other has a D with a box around it. Can some one tell me what this is for also.

I think your car had a manual overdrive transmission. THe [D] is for overdrive. I'm not sure what the button is for. Does it light up? If so, it might just tell you your in OD. If you have your manual, it should say in there, or you can go to a dealer and order an owners manual.

Have you checked your SS's lately

just remember, keep it in D untill you reach about 55 or 60 ,then throw it in {D} (overdrive) to save some gas. dont drive around with it in overdrive all the time (unless on the highway or at above 55+ mph for an extended period) or the trans will shift alot more and cause more wear...

The "2nd" switch is for 2nd gear starts. In other words, when activated, the car will never shift below 2nd gear, even at a stop. This is a traction control device for the 6 popper models.
