I removed the original deluxe upholstry from the back seat of my '67. There are long steel rods inserted into the upholstry that the hog rings loop around and then loop around the seat springs to secure the upholstry in place. When I look at the new upholstry (PUI, which nearly all recommend on this site) I don't see a place to insert these steel rods. Am I missing something? Do I install without the rods? Thanks for any help!

The one looping steel rod with spiral paper wrap is where you would clip hogrings through the cord/spline of the new skins.
This one looping rod is located higher on deluxe than on standard seat backs.

There are multiple steel rods spaced 1" apart and weaved through one layer of burlap with 1/4" of jute/felt glued on the other side. Some newer seat buns have a new type fiberglass mesh type backing. I have not used the burlap/rod layer recently, and the seats are holding up well.
