I recently purchased a Camaro. On the title is says a 66 Camaro. From what the chevrolet dealer in the area said, that it is one of the first 67's ever built. Since it was built in early 66 it was titled as a 66. I can't find out much from the main Chevrolet office either. When I did call there they did say that it was a 67 but there was no way to find out any more. Althought she did say that it was possible. A friend of mine said he did hear of a 66 1/2. I did not get my new registration card but the guy I bought it from said it is registered as a 66 1/2. If anyone ever heard of such a thing I would appreciate some info. Thanks Tam

P.S. I do have a 68 tic toc tach for sale. All original factory item if anyone is interested.

I recently got my registration and it said 66 Camaro not 66 1/2. thanks everyone for you help, but how can I tell from the numbers when in 66 the car was built.

Nope. Never heard of that one. How early is it? The date should be on the cowl tag.

Tams - Post your vin and cowl tag in the Tag Team forum... It will tell all or most all!! Also please post 4 Sale ads in the proper place. There is a link in the upper right of the page as you read this... I don't want to come off as the bad guy but ads just clutter the forums and the old Italian guy that pushes a broom through here has to clean it up sooner or later!!

Thanks,

In Cal the registration will say year and year sold. If it was sold in Oct of 1966 the year sold will say 1966 and the year will say 1967. I don't know if your state is like that but it could be the source of your confusion.

I also have a 66 camaro ?? (12C) Never heard that used on a camaro.
The mustang people use the 1964 1/2 for those cars registered as 65's but built in 64.

Let's check with CRG on this but I think the '66 was spelled Camero LOL

I'm sure it's a '67...

I had a 67 camaro that had 1966 on the title on it too. That is because it listed it as first year sold. It was an early build car so it was sold in 1966.

I also had a 1969 SS454 Monte Carlo for the same reasons. (of course really a 70 built 09-17)

Probably something similar with your car.

I also have a '66 Camaro, 08E build date (first week of production). However, even though it was built in '66, it is still a '67 model year car. The Rustang owners like to call their early build '65's a '64 1/2, but it is still a '65 model year car. There are a lot of quirky things about Ford owners I guess.

You can go out and buy a 2002 vehicle right now, does it mean its a 2001? No, its a 2002 model. The new model year always comes out early. Except when they are late. Like the 1970 Camaro. You will not find any 1969 70' Camaros. See?

The last week of production for the 1969 Camaro was the first week of November 1969. Even though a 1969 model was at the 1970 press review and shown in ads they were all titled as 1969s.

They like to do this for some reason. There was no 1983 Corvette but you could buy an '84 in April 1983. I recall they released the '89 Beretta in December 1987.

The new rule is a model can cross January 1 only once.
