Question

My '79 Camaro has been stalling at intersections-usually within a mile of start, and usually in the afternoon. The carb place told me it was an electrical problem, other mechanics (3) have not been able to find a problem, neither while driving it, and told me to go back to the carb place. Last year she barely passed smog, and I had to get a new catalytic converter. It feels like it's either flooded (with no fumes as would be likely) or clogged fuel line, or the mixture that should be mixing isn't. It's a 305 engine. The transmission is relatively new. She has 144,000 miles. Please email me with your ideas. I have been told that it could be the float is fuel logged, or it's "carb icing." However, I'm in San Diego, and the temps in the pm are in the 90's. I don't know what to think! Please help!!!!

My first car did this, I had a Rochester dual jet. The car would run wide open fine but die at every stop. I found some dirt under the needle, I cleaned the rest of the carb and it was fine after that.
