i have no idea what happened to my shifter! i have all the gears P R N 3 2 1 but when i shift from 1 up, it never shifts! so when i park my car after driving it it just rolls away, so i have to slam the shifter up in to park and it sometimes sticks. when i put the TH400 in my car i used my powerglide shift cable. it fit and worked fine, could this be my problem? thanks guys.

I had this happen with a aftermarket shifter. It was just the wrong cable mtg. bracket. I bought a adjustable one then adjusted it till it would go into park, but still hit first gear. It was a long time ago so I can't remember where I got the bracket from. Hurst?

sounds like you need to adjust the cable inside the car.

You need to take the transmission arm, what the cable attaches too, and bring it all the way back to first gear, and adjust the cable from here. Then shift through all the gears from first up to park to make sure, you get all the gears. Another important thing, is to make sure the arm is good and tight so their is no play. This here could be your problem. The arm should have no slack in it.
