Question

I just rebuilt the 2 bbl rochester on my 70 camaro and now when I try to start the car, gas gushes out of a hole next to the carb opening. I took it off and opened it back up to see if there was anything obviously wrong but I'm not sure what to look for as this is the first time I have attempted to rebuild a carb... Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the float is too high or something is stuck in the needle valve.

Not sure what you mean by "carb opening" but it sounds like your float may be set to high allowing fuel to enter the carb throat. You don't have to remove the whole carb to make this adjustment so it should be relatively easy to check.

Good luck,
