I have a 68 camaro rs/ss. Can any one tell me what the most torque and horsepower my stock 12 bolt posi rear can handle safely? Is there anything I can do to beef it up without spending a lot of $$$.
Thanks Dan

Not sure what a stock rear can handle but i ran a 450 hp small block behind the same setup with 3.37's without any problems.(It even survived an accident and still works fine behind that much power, dont ask about the accident ) If you want to beef up the rear, I suggest a set of Moser axles and a Moroso Brute Stregnth Posi unit. Ive seen this setup used with cars running low 10 sec 1/4mi. without any breakage. This will make an already strong rearend bullet-proof. Hope this helps

I would also use a rear cover with the bearing cap braces like the one from T/A. They cost about $120 but if you bust a cap you'll destroy the whole rear end!
