The car isn't a real Z/28, the X code is wrong. The Z/28's didn't have A/C either. I don't have my books handy to check the X44 code. The 305 engine would be wrong for a 69 car, maybe a 302? If the car is nice 7k isn't a bad price either way. Good Luck. Cary

X44 is just a base coupe. I hope you meant "orginal" 302 engine and not 305. If it's a genuine 302 engine, the car would be worth more, even though it isn't an original Z/28. An x44 coupe with a unoriginal 305 engine isn't worth anywhere near an original Z/28..........KZ

What part of "base coupe" did you not understand? It cannot be a Z/28, this guy is obviously blowing smoke up your ***. If it were an early production car, it would not have an "X" code at all!!! The fact that it does have the X44 eliminates it from being a Z28. Probably started life as a 307/327 car........KZ

I'll explain a little better.
X44 is a car without style trim and it can't be a Z or a SS.
The VIN is for a 6 cylinder car. But something doesn't look right.

Could you post all #'s off the trim tag? It was 06C for sure? And you posted the VIN correctly?

It is not a Z or SS, but depending on condition, it may be worth the $$.

79z28 - The folks here won't steer you wrong. If someone does others will pipe up very quickly! Just to give you an idea a solid Z/28 numbers matching nice paint and interior will fetch $18,000 and up around here. After 31 years anything and everything happens to these cars.

Hey 79z28,

Is the car you're looking at in London, KY? Is his initials H. B. and does he have several old cars in his yard that he's fixing up? Let me know if this sounds like the guy you're dealing with.

I bought a car from him. He told me so many lies about the car it ain't funny. The paint job he put on was so thin, it couldn't be buffed. He had said he put on a total of 18 coats of paint and clearcoat. He lied about the size of the motor. It didn't matter though because when I got it home and put my gauges on, it held about 5 pounds of oil pressure. He told me he had just put new back tires on. They sure looked new too. When I tried to drive it from London, one of the "new" tires blew. It had an innertube.

The car looked good at first glimpse, which was his goal. I admit I should have used some sense when I looked at it. I was younger and wanted a 1st gen Camaro REAL bad. I ended up spending about $7,000 in addition to the purchase price trying to get it right. I finally gave up.
