I own a 88 Camaro iroc-z convertable, 305 v8 5.0 liter automatic. When the car shifts out of first gear, it kicks extremely hard. It doesn't do several tiny actually feels like someone driving a standard and is accelerating fast, you know how you pause slightly hitting the clutch and shifting? Just curious to know if this is okay, this ONLY happens when the car is going from 2nd to 3rd.

i have had a problem with my 91rs. it has the automatic, and when i would get on it, it would kick pretty hard. Come to find out, it was a broken transmission mount. It was hard to see unless you looked at it real close, but that is what it was. I have had my car 1 and a half years, and i have already gone through two. But if i am understanding what you are describing, is sounds the same. You might just want to check and see.
