Question

I have a MSD-8360 distributor and MSD 6AL that was on the car since I bought it.It's time for a new cap,rotor,wires.What will fit on this distributor?Do I have to buy a MSD brand cap,rotor wires,or is there after market pieces that will fit?I would like to run a more "stock" looking set if possible i.e. black,instead of the red cap that I believe came on it when new.Is there a set of black aftermarket wires that will fit?
Thanks for any help.

67drake;

It may help in getting an answer if you state what style distributor the MSD is. As an example, I have an MSD small cap "pro-billet" in my car. (I'm not trying to be snotty)

I have an MSD-8460 & 6A in my 67 (GM style cap and rotor & Vac Adv). It will accept the stock parts except for the rotor attachment screws. The MSD ones are shorter. If you use a stock screw you may destroy the distibutor! (at least thats what MSD says!). My last tuneup I went with all MSD parts just to be safe.

Good Luck

That cap sure looks like the same type as the earlier prestolite series, but I could be wrong. Anyway, I would email MSD and ask them what they have available, so far as I know they are good at getting back at people on questions. http://www.msdignition.com/
Wires aren't a big deal, you don't have to run their wires, anybody's will work.

Wink

Thanks Torch!
Wes,I guess I didn't realize how many styles there were.I looked up my part # in the Summit catalog and pretty much all it said was "Chevy Extra Duty" and "..ready to run replacement for stock points and HEI distributors..." if this helps any.
Thanks also Cardude,(your post wasn't up here yet when I started typing my reply)
