I'm looking at an original 302 DZ motor and need a little help.
I'm nervous about not getting this motor
but don't want to buy it if it's not all original. It is an original DZ block for sure, all the casting date codes and stamping on the pad and
the stamping by the oil filter all add up according to the book I have.
The book is The definitive Z28 -SS396 fact book. This is what is throwing me, it says the
part # is 3946876 in the book for the pistons but the motor I'm looking at has has
3927172 on the pistons. Also the
rods have a forrest green strip of paint on them and I thought they
would have a pink strip. They are full floating I
guess, I'm not that familiar with that part of it. Motor has been sitting
for 25 years, has been in dry conditions, pan is off, heads are off, has
the original intake, no carb., numbers and date codes match. Any idea
something like this
would be worth?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
