I have a 67 conv. with a imprint of what looks like a large telephone reciever around the inside door striker. but I have seen 2 other 67's that don't have this. did GM have different body stamps at different plants.or are these clones

This is what I was told by the guy who I bought my 67 from, but I don't know how true it is.If your ragtop has the original 1/4's on it,it will have that phone pattern in the doorjamb. The cars you saw might have had the 1/4's replaced.Mine has the original metal, and has this pattern.

67 RS RAGTOP # matching,

67-68 original convertible quarters will have the "telephone" stamp. Because convertible quarters are hard to come by people will use coupe quarters and cut them down to fit for the convertibles. If you look hard enough you will see the seam were the coupe and convertible quarters were welded together.

A few years back I was in a body shop that had a fully restored '69 pace car that was in the process of having the cut down coupe quarters removed and the rereleased GM convertible quarters installed. Even though the door jamb areas were the same the owner did not want to have the telltale sign that coupe quarters were used

Rereleased GM convertible quarters? First I've heard of that. Are they available for 68? Who do I contact to get em?

GM had discontinued the '69 conv quarters some time in the 80's. I went to several dealers looking for a pair with no luck. Then I saw in Hot Rod('90-'91?)that GM conv. quarters were again available(re-released/reissued). I got my '69 quarters in '91 for the low price of $214 each from the GM dealer. I should have gotten about 10 of them. The only original 67-68 quarters for sale I have seen lately where in Hemmings and I am sure they want a lot of money for them.
