I have a 69 camaro th350 trans and stock floor shift. What is the linkage that comes from the lever at the column in the engine compartment and down to a pivot on the frame and over to the tranny for? And since it is shifted by a cable could this be removed since the headers hit it?

What it dose is locks your tranns in park when you trun your key off it also truns on your backup lights on when you go into revers. You can take it off but keep it a lot of people restoring cars are looking for them they are hard to find.

So am I going to need to fab a bracket or something to keep in the correct position? If the column doesnt lock thats ok, When I have the car out I'm never that far from it, but I would like the reverse lights to work. They do now. Is this possible?

Your lock out will not work. But on your reverse lights you could make a bracket for a bump switch to hit and turn them on.

You are wright I forgot all about that. All you have to do is pull it up and tie it off to the brack line use a pull tie. Sorry about that.
