Well both of my front seat belts in my '89 RS are screwed up and I was wondering what kind of options that I had.

The driver's side (my side) won't wind back up and take in the slack anymore.

The clip in for the passenger's side one broke.....

I was considering 5 point racing harnesses, just because.... Are those hard to install? Well what you can tell me, I am up for the answer.

5 point racing harness? usually they tend to need a roll cage to bolt the other belts to. I think it would be cheaper just to go to the junkyard and get another set like yours.

I had a Momo 4 point harness in my '84 that worked good. The lap belt was bolted to the floor in the original location and the sholder belt were both hooked under the back seat. It was more of a 3 point harness and I don't know if you could consider that "proper installation".

The only drawback is that you can't pivot your shoulders to look back when you backup.

never buy a seat belt out of a wrecked car! when the seat belt is used in an accident they need to be repalced. the stress a seatbelt go's through is enormass! and it is weekended by the use. go to the dealer and get a new belt. this is cheep insurance IMHO, as a loved one or your self my be saved from death by this.

Phantom, My wifes old 87 coupe had the belts(the latching side) replaced under a factory recall. You might want to check with you GM dealer.
