Alt belt on 69 camaro will always screach from idle to high rev. Long water pump and alt have very little belt surface on pulleys (factory original set up). I hate to over tighten the belt because of premature bearing wear, but if i don't the belt will screach whenever reved from idle. Any belt suggestions? Seems that deep v belts are hard to find. today everything is cogged.

thx jc

I haven't yet, but i will now. Were they able to hook you up w/a V belt? Did that solve the screach form the alt belt?

thx

You might want to try a solid belt (no cutouts on the bottom) if that's a V-belt then disregard. These are also great if you keep throwin belts off.

Try Gates "Top Cog" belts - have used them for years - no noise, no thrown belts. Repro fabric-wrapped belts are great for judging, but are junk for performance.
