I am looking at buying a 1980 Z28. The guy claims it to be a number matching 350 4spd. The car is complete and seems to be rust free. I was wondering what make the 4 speed should be and the possible gear ratio in the diff 10 bolt. The car is in fair shape and is offered a $2800.00 Can. what do you guys think?

The 4sp. should be a Saginaw or a Warner. Those are the two 4sp's available from 1977-80. My 79 Z28 has 3.42 gears. If you can find the axle code...located on the right tube about 3 inches from the differential I can tell you what gear it is suppoesed to have.

The Z28's used the borg-warner transmissions from '77-'80, the '80 Z28 4-speeds used the 3.08 gears

I ordered a New 80 Z way back when...it came with a Borg-warner Super T-10 4sp and 3.73 bum gears...they were standard...paid $8000 for it then brand new.

Thanks for the info, Seeing that the car is rust free it should make a decent project car.
