Model Engine kit for a youth

Is there a good model engine kit for an 11 year old who wants to learn how an engine works? Something he can build and learn with all the parts and pieces? thinking a pretty good scale version so he can see the working parts

Been around for years, it's called the Visible V8 by Revell...

The one model I know of is the Visible V8

https://www.revell.com/products/visible-v-8-engine.html

Or do like I did when I was 12, when I helped my Dad rebuild a 283. That single event got me into 60's Chevy pick-ups, rebuilding SBC's and eventually led me to my 67 RS. I cannot thank him enough for that experience.

Chevrolet has a cut-away 265 CID V8 in their museum.
The V8 Bob & Dennis suggest would be ideal.

A friend just bought a kit with LEDs that light upon combustion. I think this was it: https://www.enginediy.com/products/v...BoCoDwQAvD_BwE

When I was little, my Grandfather had a minature steam engine. I loved watching it. Now I am old and I bought one for myself. It is still cool.

There are several versions of the engine. One is a kit that has to be assembled.
They are not cheap plastic. It has to be maintained (oiled). They will last a lifetime.

I actually have two of these, one received when I was about 10 and another a friend gave me a while back. They are really cool. I mounted the smaller one to a boat I made when I was a kid. It didn't propel it so well but it was fun anyways.
