Kindig-It paint seminar

Attended the Kindig-It paint seminar over the weekend. I highly recommend this course to anyone who paints or is planning to paint their project. Bryce the body shop manager and Freddy the head painter worked hard to cover every step from prep to sealing to base to clear including how to make repairs. Gun setup and spray technique were also covered. There was a lot of hand on spraying in the two booths. The amount of work that went into preparing this class was amazing. Bryce and Freddy are great guys and were happy to answer everyone’s questions and to share their techniques and tips.

I’m a self taught backyard hack and have always wanted to learn from someone who paints for a living. Taking a class in a high end custom shop was the ultimate for me.

An added bonus was being able to wander around the shop and check out all the projects. Great things going on there. Dave even dropped by Sunday afternoon to say hello.

Sounds cool. Was there a cost for the seminar?

.....And you had to travel to Utah to attend it?

Did you see their 3D printer? I have always like watching that show. Purchased my cut outs through them.

Yes there was a cost. We went through several thousand dollars in materials alone not to mention their time. There was also two reps from Sata there who helped and supplied guns.

Yep. A 2.5 hour flight. Saw the printer but it was not running. Very cool projects going on there. They are building a Pantera that was incredible.

Re: Kindig-It paint seminar

I'll bet you gained quite an appreciation for the painters and body men that work at that level.
I'm sure it was well worth the cost and time.

Yes I did. One of the most worthwhile things learned was how to make repairs. It seems even the pros need to make repairs.

The other thing I learned is that they take the time needed to get it perfect. I’m often racing to beat the weather and/or meet customer deadlines and cost targets. In the case of my personal builds I have to squeeze them in between customer work.
