The way we 'treasure' these old cars these days, they spend 99% of the time in the garage, which is MUCH different than when our first gens were new and used daily; back then most cars sat outside in the sun and rain and those elements were what destroyed the vinyl tops and contributed to rust underneath the vinyl.
For a car which sits outside, you're better off withOUT a vinyl top, but for a garage queen, if you like the vinyl top, then do it. and many cars do LOOK best with the vinyl top.
I like silver and orange cars with black vinyl tops. Not too many others that I like.
