Opinion-vinyl top, yes or no?

1969 Camaro tag is 69 B, Cortez silver black vinyl top. 1978 I removed top painted it red. Did not like the vinyl top. Now I am going to paint it silver but when I see pics.I like the vinyl top. Any thoughts?

I always hated the vinyl tops when I was younger, the white ones the most. For some reason now I like them "except white". I say if you have the trim still , put it back on.

Re: Opinion-vinyl top, yes or no?

The way we 'treasure' these old cars these days, they spend 99% of the time in the garage, which is MUCH different than when our first gens were new and used daily; back then most cars sat outside in the sun and rain and those elements were what destroyed the vinyl tops and contributed to rust underneath the vinyl.

For a car which sits outside, you're better off withOUT a vinyl top, but for a garage queen, if you like the vinyl top, then do it. and many cars do LOOK best with the vinyl top.

I agree with Gary. They look best on light color cars and are very durable. I am always throwing things on the roof. Car cover, floor mats and such. Cant do that with paint. One less area to wax also.

Re: Opinion-vinyl top, yes or no?

I have never been fan of rust wrap tops (Vinyl) for their look. Others prefer having them if their trim code shows the car came with one so it is a personal decision on what "you" want

Agree most first gens are kept in garage and don't see DD use so a vinyl top, along with everything else on the car, don't see the wear & tear as these cars saw originally

Re: Opinion-vinyl top, yes or no?

If you like the vinyl top then paint the roof and re-install.
It will not hurt the cars value.

A black vinyl top looks great with your color combo, IMO.

Absolutely vinyl top. Something that isn't done anymore and enhances the nostalgia of these cars. I love mine and wouldn't have it any other way.

I like vinyl tops too. My car didn't come with one so I didn't put one on. If it came with one, it would have one on it now.
