Starting on 67 L-30 RS deluxe convert barn find

Ok , so a while back i posted about this 1967 Camaro RS deluxe convert that had been sitting in a small one car old garage since 1987 and hadnt been started or moved at all since then.

Well i got it home , been tinkering and going to get into it .

dont know if i should tear into it and do a full rotisserie ( since its AUGUST ALREADY...DAMN)
or just get it in shape n sound and enjoy the summer or whats left.

at the moment , i PUSHED it in the pole barn and i had cleaned the interior up..( STILL SMELLS LIKE MOUSE ****) but cleaned up nicely.
jacked it up and changed the drivers fender with NOS one that came with the car. and figure i'll do the brakes and check trans , rear and gas tank ..

got it running after a hour or so when i first got it but havent tried to drive it or anything since...gotta do all the basics.

anyways , heres the start .

Yea, what Todd said - nice interior and the rest of her, also.
Carpet shampooer with the upholstery attachment & hose, use really hot water, stain cleaner for soaking before shampooing, and plenty of Febreeze after the carpet dries.

Re: starting on 67 L-30 RS deluxe convert barn find

overall the interior was pretty nice . the drivers seat has been repaired years ago but holding up well...i will at some point still put at the very least new front seat upholstery on it ...PUI makes it cheap and easier than i can stitch new ones and looks correct.

the car came with new carpet in a bag , not sure whos it is but it was with all the NOS item that came with the car.

the car is a pretty decent car and a great find but , IT NEEDS redone , i know it was this was since 1982 when the previous owner bought it - as i was told by the family.
so , before he got it in 81 , someone had been into it and done some POOR repairs on the body...nothing i can fix right tho..just time n money.

i think it will be a summer fix it and then worry about it later.

Nice find... I wish I could find a nice one hiding in a barn... How much did it cost you?

Looks like you have a few projects going in that garage.....nice. Drive it, it is as much fun to drive now as it will be when redone.....if it gets redone. :-)

Re: Starting on 67 L-30 RS deluxe convert barn find

i got the car and all the NOS parts for 8K !

nos fender , nos rear full 1/4 , nos RS front lower valance , nos set of 4 wheelwell moldings , 7 out of 8 pc nos lower fender door n rear 1/4 rs moldings , nos rs grill , nos rs headlight door , nos rocker spears , and a set of 4 - 2 front n r rear tall bumperguards n rubbers , and a nos pair of door chrome guards.

that was the NOS stuff , got a lot on nice used GM parts too.

i posted some of the NOS stuff for sale but im not going to give it away and i keep getting lowballed ...so , i sold a couple pcs but the rest i can always use on the car once i put it on a rotisseie.

found a couple surprises , minor but unexpected but thats part of the game.

going to try to have it as a driver before mid september so i can take it to the GRAND ROD RUN in PIGEON FORGE TN.

Re: Starting on 67 L-30 RS deluxe convert barn find

I do have a few , always do and probably always will ...lol its my vise i guess.
i do get cars done tho .
the splitwindow vette is My KEEPER car and is done , a 340hp car and i drove it on the hotrod power tour the whole way in 2003.
the rest , just a fun way to keep busy ...

right now , a 66 Nova SS that i stretched the front end 10 inches , moved the rear up 10 inches , kind of a funnycar tribute to the old jungle jim early nova.
i built a front clip , have a straight axle under it and built for a nice BBC / turbo 400 that i can drive around on the street.

next is a 95 camaro Z28 convert that i cut the front n rear off and putting 69 camaro sheetmetal on...i saw them at a show and decided to build one...some love it , some dont but i just wanted a different driver than everyone around here...lol

then i have 3 69s here right now. a rare Butternut yellow with Yellow houndstooth thats a project but i have all the sheetmetal for it , a nice running 69 427 , muncie 4 speed and 12 bolt rear just waiting for it ...

i have a basic plain 69 that is also waiting but all the metal work is done , the frame , engine , trans , so on is done and all the parts bought n waiting ...

then , I have John Cavin , out of KY ...i have his 69 in the garage working on it for him.
i did all the metal work , full floor , firewall , full rear 1/4s , and painted the bottom and put the shell in etch primer ,
Sent it back home and John built a really healthy 408 , powdercoated everything in satin blk and assembled the car to the point it runs n moves on its own..Very good detail and a lot of work ,
Now , its back here so i can fit all the new body panels , finish body work , Paint and do some interior work before it goes back home to KY.

So yep , i have a few in there ..lol beats working for a living ...

I also use Nature's Miracle in the water - available at any decent pet store to cut the barn critter smell - that being said 30 something years later I still smell Cows & Horses on humid or damp days
