Bad News!!

I am new, and most saw my topic in the welcome section, which by the way thanks for the warm welcome.

Anyways, I had stated that I was to pickup my Camaro today, well went down there, rented the trailer, had the man power, had the money, and looked over the car, which was in good condition, no accidents, or any other horrific issue. Went to get ready for title and money to be handed over, and the VIN did not match the VIN on the title. What a big disappointment that was, so much that my middle son started to cry when I came home with no car.

Sad thing about this, is the seller of the car had a week and half to get the car ready and make sure it was good to go. Instead I basically wasted money in gas and fee's and rental for this. I even had to buy a used tire to get it to roll, so just made me believe that he tried to con me, and stick me with a car I would not be able to register later.

So, now I am back in the ads looking again for the one elusive car of my project dreams...

Re: Bad News!!

Bummer Robert but there will be a another better deal. If you have both vins in this deal you might want to post them for future searches.

Re: Bad News!!

And now for the bright side--------------- you were paying attention and didn't wind up with a car that had a title problem and now you get to continue the search for a great car! Sounds like good news to me!

X2.....Good job being on the look out for these scammers. IF the car was posted in the classifieds here please post negative feed back about the problem so other don't get taken.

You did the right thing and your son will thank you in later years when he's enjoying the camaro you did find.

Re: Bad News!!

If you have the real vin you might run it by law enforcement to see if it was stolen. Someone might want their car back.

Re: Bad News!!

Well you were smart enough to check out the obvious. There are plenty of people who let the excitement over shadow the simple checks and balances. Your son learned a good lesson as well. Although as a father seeing tears in your children's eyes is always painful.

I would drop a dime to law enforcement as the car could be stolen.

Re: Bad News!!

Yea, you guys are right, and I thought about the exact same thing you guys are talking about. I think one of my buddies took a picture of the vin that was on the driver side T-Top glass, and if he did, I am going to see if it is, and give the location, cause I do have the address of where it is located now, so I will keep you informed if anything develops out of this.

Now, as far as the posting, it was posted on Craigslist in the Corpus Christi and a 200 mile radius so, I don't know if there is something I can do or report about this. any help with this is welcomed, cause I do not want anyone else to get scammed by this knuckle head.

Post a "buyer beware" ad on craigslist in the Corpus Christie area. Just go to the same category and title the ad the same as his with "buyer beware" at the start. then post the title issue.

Anybody looking at the sale ad will also see yours.
