67 Street Track Build

This is the 67 I'm building. Bought it as a project car a few months ago.

It will be built as a Street Car and for Road Course.

Runs great. Almost ready for the front clip to go back on and off to the paint shop.

355 Solid Roller Motor
S&S Headers
T56 6 Speed
Ford 9"
Watts Link
Rack and Pinion
SBBC 3 piston Brakes
SC&C Arms
Lundrum rear multi leafs and Hypercoils in the front with adjustable buckets
Classic AC

I installed a Classic Dash with Autometer Gauges. Wired it to all plug in with a couple of multi pin connectors. Also did a Momo wheel with quick release in keeping with the track theme.

Look great and should be a lot of fun! Which rack & pinion unit are you using?

That's a good idea. Lol

I'm gonna hit it with Nitrous 1st. Never had a chance to try it and I think this is the car for it.

Re: 67 Street Track Build

More pics John!! Of the front of the motor etc...What brand/style alternator is that? I like the way it's polished and also painted to break it up a little. I'm looking at those and starters as we speak.

Just not too much. Don't want to blow up my engine, you know...

seriously, though, there are some tricks to using that stuff. Things similar to turbo chargers: lower compression, colder plugs, etc, etc. I've been in cars on the juice and they're fun but I think turbos are more fun.

We've done turbos and blowers but haven't played with nitrous yet. I like roots blowers best. Had one on my 04 Vette.

The motor is 10.5 to 1 so I'm thinking just a 50 or 75 shot

Just go with a 500 shot and see what it'll do.

...then go LS.

Re: 67 Street Track Build

After considerable time going over everything from top to bottom and redoing a lot of things that were not done very well the car is ready for paint. Just need to set the hood.

I'll let the painter set all the gaps. All fits pretty good for just throwing it together loose.

Going in August 8th and scheduled for a 30 day turn around. He just finished a 69 (getting an LS motor) for me so I'm picking it up and dropping off the 67.

The car is already jambed and the firewall painted, inside dash and rear panels already painted. Also under the car is finished.

Going to stay with the Gold Mist color the PO started with. Black out the tail pan and no other stripes. Not much body work needed all GM metal and no rust.

Yeah my three week turn around turned into 13 months. But that was 1988 or so. Maybe time has changed. Good luck.

I had my 69 Protour body and paint done by Counts Kustoms. We agreed on 90 days and I had it back in 110. Added time was do to added work and changes I made. They put over 700 hours into the body and paint. I was there and a regular basis and saw the work being done.

The painter I'm using on my other builds works full time at a shop. Nights and weekends in his own little shop and rents a booth to paint. He does great work. Saving the money he makes to put his kid through college. If he need 6 weeks I'll be OK. I have another shop that will paint this car in 7-10 days and do a very good job but I like my other guy. He won't even let me pay him until the job is done and happy with his work.

I don't play these long term in the shop games. We agree to a schedule, I make progress payments based on milestones reached and my projects get done.

Re: 67 Street Track Build

Out of the paint booth.

Will color sand and buff, black out the tail pan, bolt on the rear spoiler and put it all together this week.

I pick it up Sunday.

I like it.
