'67 comes out of 34 years storage and is going restomod at rebirth.

I parked this car "temporarily" in 1983 and it has been stored (almost always indoors) ever since. Family, business and just plain "life" always got in the way of getting it out and working on it but it's never been out of my mind, just out of site.
I retired a few years ago and have finally worked my way down the "projects" list to the point that the Camaro could move to "next" (still other things I "should do" but too bad for them).
The car is a factory RS/SS that came with a 350 and 4 speed out of the Southern California plant and has always been a "California" car so rust isn't much of a problem. I purchased the car from it's owner in 1977. The car had been sitting for a couple of years with no motor, transmission, hood and a few other parts as it had been "stolen and recovered" but he had spent the insurance money on other things.
I spent from '87 to about '80 putting it together as a "back road racer" with the usual mods of the time, multi leaf springs, wider tires, better shocks and changed out the terrible power steering for a "quick ratio" 4 turn manual box. Not bad for the time but not up to the level of just about anything today.
Call it sacrilege if you will but I've decided to go full restomod! If I had the original engine and transmission I'd have kept it "stock restoration" but I'm really starting to like the restomods I see and that's where I'm going with it.
Already purchased an LS3 and 6 speed and a complete "TCI" chassis with a 9" ford narrowed for tubs so no turning back now LOL.
I'm going to do a blog but as usual "good intentions" of lots of photos have not actually turned into me keeping a camera handy. Will do what I can with what I shot and try to do better as I go along.

Welcome Jim. We are similar stories on sort of the same path, same endpoint anyway. I work on mine when i get the opportunity as i havent seen fit to retire yet. It either has to be less fun or i have to get creakier. You will get gigged for pictures. Remember though, no matter what they tell you, real Camaros have vent windows.😈

A fantastic starting point! Welcome and I am looking forward to watching your build.
There is no better place to find answers than this forum, the information is endless.
Suggest you also get on some FB pages, there are several "First Gen" or "1st Gen", "67 Camaro" and "1st gen exchange" pages for info and parts.

Neat car - looks like original Granada Gold paint on it. Have you decided on a color for it? My (now black) 67 RS/SS 'vert was originally GG, and I have been tempted to go back gold on it if I ever repaint it. On your car, I would be tempted to go with a modern color that approximates the GG, but maybe has a little more "pop" factor to it.

Good luck with it!

With the original motor and trans gone, the LS3 and 6 speed will make a nice home in that engine bay. Love to see the progress on this one. Please post some more pictures of this nearly rust free car!

Project: 1968 Camaro 5.3, T56, Z51 brakes, 12 bolt, etc.
