Installed the hood today. My daughter Shelby helped me sand and buff the hood, valence and header today. It was exhausting!

I still have some fine tuning of the hood, but it is close.

Aligned the hood today. That was tougher than I remember!

Biggest issue I had was that I had tightened radiator core support down. I had to loosen it, shift the support with reference to the frame...which scooted the front of the fenders over a bit. It was exactly what was needed.

So, for me, not tightening portions of the front end sheet metal allowed me to get the hood aligned.

I installed the right rivets in the wrong location. So, out with the bad and in with the good. 67 Camaro grills used 2 types of rivets. Flat...black rivets between grill and grill trim. Stainless steel ovals between lower grill trim and valence.

I also installed the headlight hardware. I just have to line them up and then I will install the headlight trim.

Finally, I put on the correct air cleaner.

As with everything else related to this restoration, I had my first shot at buffing a fresh coat of clear coat.

I bought a nice Milwaukee buffer. I hit all but the header and valence.

Buffing exposed a few blemishes in the paint. Nothing major. I should be done with buffing and waxing this week.

Re: My 67 L78 Build

Stripe looks good Keith. Did you purchase a stencil or lay it out by dimensions ?

I bought a stencil. I used the stencil on the fenders. I had to redo the header though because the stencil was off by 1/8th.

I laid out the header by hand. I checked all dimensions against assembly manual measurements.
