Modern transmission for sure. But whatever your vision is, is how you should do it.
Id' prefer an LS/LT based engine, maybe dressed or disguised to look like a carbureted engine,move the coils off the valve covers.
Or a BIG" small block with lots of aluminum on it to lighten it up.
Some cars look good parked on the grass,but drive like a wet noodle.
some cars are much more fun to drive than just park and look at.
I'd like one that does both well if I could afford it.
Depends on what you enjoy and how much $$ you can blow.
