Rear speakers in a convertible

I seem to remember my moms 68 Impala convertible that I drove in highschool having a rear radio speaker that sat below the top well with the speaker grille in the well. I am putting together my 65 Buick Gran Sport convertible and I am planning on putting some extra speakers and think this may be a way to go. Any ideas or photos of speakers like that?

Re: Rear speakers in a convertible

The Camaro convertible got 2 cardboard boxes mounted so the speaker faces were up and under the bottom of the top well. There were speaker grills mounted in the bottom of the top well tying everything together.

My understanding is, it was a waste of effort when the top was down!

Re: Rear speakers in a convertible

Not OE but there is a TC member that posted pics a while back of a removable speaker box he made that sat on in the center of the rear seat that looked pretty good. Made the rear seat look like buckets. He had speakers on both sides and it was covered in material to match the seats. If interested, try searching for convertible speakers and you should find it.
