04 2500hd with 250,000 miles

Hi guys I'm looking at purchasing a different truck. I found a 2004 Chevy 2500hd with 6.0 motor. Its in great shape but it has 257,000 miles. Whats the life expectancy of these motors. Please reply with any and all thoughts. What to look for or ask about.

Re: 04 2500hd with 250,000 miles

Generally that is probably about all to expect out of the original engine. If it was extremely well serviced (and maybe it was if the rest of the truck is in great shape) it MIGHT go to 300,000 or so.

But when you get to that many miles you also have to consider that the transmission is probably about ready to go out, you probably need to have the front and rear axles at least serviced, u joints replaced, etc.

Other may have specific details or better experiences. The above comments are just my opinion.
